Hello, my name is Nisa Khan.

I am a reporter at KQED in San Francisco.

I am dedicated to producing responsible journalism that tells complex, nuanced stories. My work ranges from criminal justice investigations to data analysis to utility explainers. I often make appearances on the radio and podcast episodes. (Sometimes they let me talk about Taylor Swift on air.)

I have been recognized multiple times for my reporting, including most recently by the Society of Professional Journalists, Northern California, the SF Press Club and the Association of LGBTQ+ Journalists. I also have been invited to speak at panels and conferences like KQEDFest and the Great Lakes Data & Analytics Summit.

I was formerly the first full-time data reporter at Michigan Radio and contributed to the Peabody-winning NPR podcast
Believed.

I earned a Bachelor of Science in Information from the University of Michigan and a Master of Arts in Communication from Stanford University.  (I once got to introduce Ronan Farrow at an event.)

Outside of work, I have a love of fiction, film, pop culture, and weird internet projects. I was a 2023-2024 creative resident at The Ruby, a creative coalition in the Bay Area.

Here are some selected clips.
